Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, has made a series of observations in the historical Mehmet Ağa Sor Mansion which is reconstructed with its original stones at our University and will serve as "Student House". The Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erkan and the academic and administrative staff of our university welcomed Deputy Minister Ahmet Misbah Demircan and the accompanying delegation in the Mehmet Ağa Sor Mansion. The Governor of Şırnak Ali Hamza Pehlivan and the Mayor of Şırnak Mehmet Yarka, as well as the Governor of Cizre and Deputy Mayor Davut Sinanoğlu, İdil District Governor and Deputy Mayor Refik Özsoy, Provincial Police Chief Mustafa Emre Başbuğ, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Ramazan Acar, AK Parti Provincial Chairman İbrahim Halil Erkan and representatives of non-governmental organizations have accompanied the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Head of the Department of Libraries Ahmet Aldemir and the Ministry Counselor Abdullah Aksak.Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erkan informed the Deputy Minister Demircan and the accompanying delegation about the reconstruction process on the campus area. Rector of our university Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erkan emphasized that the project is very valuable as it is not a restoration project but a reconstruction project. He followed as; “ Mansion of Mehmet Ağa Sor, built in 1892, is the only registered building in Şırnak. This building reflects the original historical architecture and traditional life style of Şırnak. Within the scope of DİKA 2018 Financial Support Program for the Improvement of Urban Life Quality, our Student House was built with a budget of 1 million 669 thousand TL. DİKA provided 70 percent of our project and our university provided 30 percent ".Stating that the Mansion of Mehmet Ağa Sor has been rebuilt with a project supported by our University and Dicle Development Agency, Project Coordinator Lecturer Dr. Befrin Neval Bingöl said that the historical Mehmet Ağa Sor Mansion is being built in accordance with the original structure. Project Coordinator Bingöl stated that they used the original stones of the mansion built in 1892 and that there are historical stones from the Byzantine period and followed as; “ Mansion is built with Khorasan mortar. As in other mansions, we are trying to supply stones with lion relief. We plan to use these stones on the upper floors. There will be exhibition areas, painting, Dengbej, photography and sculpture workshops in the Student House. Deputy Minister Demircan stated that the reconstruction of the historical Mehmet Ağa Manison with its original stones is a very successful project and thanked everyone who contributed.
